For over a decade, people have gathered together to listen to and perform experimental electronic and electro-acoustic music, to swap gear and ideas, and to find like-minded life-long friends under the umbrella of electro-music.com. These gatherings have fostered an eclectic and diverse community of musicians and makers, improvisers and composers, amateurs and academics. The strangest thing about the electro-music community? That this might be the first time you’ve ever heard of it.

For the past six years, the annual electro-music festival has been held in Huguenot, NY. As of the last day of 2016’s electro-music festival, the upstate New York days have been uploaded to the archive.

ELECTRO MUSIC IS MOVING TO THE MIDWEST

2017 will be the first e-m held in Indianapolis, Indiana. August 4-6 (instead of MEME, the Midwest Electro-Music Experience).
The Irving Theater will host experimental musicians from the United States and all over the world.
This year’s lineup includes but is not limited to 44 performances, 70+ musicians, and 5 video artists.

Irvington is home to a variety of culinary options from handcrafted pizzas to Mexican seafood to caribbean cuisine.
Additionally Sun King beer and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the show.

tj
Freeman/Borden/Cain Trio
are a trio who function as a whole instrument and 3 discrete parts simultaneously – rather than choosing to be electric or acoustic, they combine both timbral worlds into one, utilizing saxophone, voice, cello, and electronics.

peck2
David Peck is a 22 year-old digital composer, electronic musician, sound sculptor, and bringer of vibes from Indianapolis, Indiana.
As a purveyor of organic-electronic music, Peck’s compositions often blend electronically generated tones and effect processes with
found-sound recordings of organic material and acoustic instrumentation. Never letting his sound stay static, David finds himself shape-shifting between sound sculpting mad scientist, dance music enthusiast, ambient meditator, and hip-hop producer. No matter which form he chooses to presents himself, there is always an invariable focus on texture, sonic richness, and emotional impact.

gore_iemg4-11_2

John Gore
has been making electronic music and irritating eardrums for over 25 years using various monikers (‘kirchenkampf’, The Oratory of Divine Love, >wirewall<). He also runs Cohort Records.

0 Big Robot DVD Release Party

  • · Performance

Mythopeic Industries, Unmanned Studios
and Big Car Collective presents in concert.

bottom
Doors at 8:00pm         Tickets are $5.00.
Irving Theater  9/20/13  8 pm
5505 East Washington St. Indianapolis

Big Robot vividly creates live media and music, interweaving aesthetic expression with cutting-edge computer interactivity. In performance, the trio projects a musical dynamic that defies classification, combining the precision and complexity of contemporary music with the frenetic energy of progressive rock.  By combining audio/video, acoustic music and electronics, the Indianapolis-based group creates art/music that explores the cross points of virtual and physical gesture, sound, and space. Big Robot has performed before audiences throughout the world, appearing live onstage as well as telematically over research-grade, high-bandwidth Internet. The September 20 concert at the Irving Theater in Indianapolis is a celebration of the recent release of their self-titled, audio/video DVD. Sharing the stage with Big Robot will be Cellist/composer Shannon Lee Hayden and harpist Erzsebet Gaal. Ms. Hayden will open the evening with a set of her original electro-acoustic music.

About Big Robot:
“My imagination was carried away….and smitten by this innovative, weird and wonderful blend of music, visual art and technology.”
-Journal Gazette-Times Courier
…”performing with phenomenal virtuosity”…
-Sequenza 21

With Special Guest Cellist Shannon Hayden
“Still in her early 20s, this classical cello/guitar virtuoso composes and performs a visionary fusion of classical and electronic that is stunning and mind-expanding. – Jim Manion, WFHB Radio
