For over a decade, people have gathered together to listen to and perform experimental electronic and electro-acoustic music, to swap gear and ideas, and to find like-minded life-long friends under the umbrella of electro-music.com. These gatherings have fostered an eclectic and diverse community of musicians and makers, improvisers and composers, amateurs and academics. The strangest thing about the electro-music community? That this might be the first time you’ve ever heard of it.

For the past six years, the annual electro-music festival has been held in Huguenot, NY. As of the last day of 2016’s electro-music festival, the upstate New York days have been uploaded to the archive.

ELECTRO MUSIC IS MOVING TO THE MIDWEST

2017 will be the first e-m held in Indianapolis, Indiana. August 4-6 (instead of MEME, the Midwest Electro-Music Experience).
The Irving Theater will host experimental musicians from the United States and all over the world.
This year’s lineup includes but is not limited to 44 performances, 70+ musicians, and 5 video artists.

Irvington is home to a variety of culinary options from handcrafted pizzas to Mexican seafood to caribbean cuisine.
Additionally Sun King beer and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the show.

This month features two new releases

by jmtta and dRachEmUsiK

All releases on MCSD NetLabel are “pay what you want” downloads.
You name the price.
And yes, that means you can choose to download the music for free.
2014 will bring you new music by Faux Pas Quartet, Joo Won Park, Kevin Haller, Barb Vesey Johnson, Duet for Theremin and Lapsteel, dRachEmUsiK and more!

Tokens of Appreciation – jmtta

Lowercase sound artist jmtta’s fourth release offers new sounds, songs, and textures constructed completely on an ipad. “Tokens of Appreciation” explores the sonic possibilities of mobile sound, keeping true to the love of small sounds, open ended melodies, and the quaint crackles and pops, this release is a showcase of bigger sound on smaller platforms.

—————————————————————————————————————–
 Theta Drone 1 – dRachEmUsiK

This is a simple twenty minute Drone created to facilitate deep meditation, guided visualizations and active imagination work using 4-7 Hz Binaural Beats to induce Theta waves.

I had the pleasure of playing a 30 min. set during the electro-music.com New Years Eve Streaming event. It was also the 10th anniversary celebration for electro-music.com. The event lasted 17 hours and feature 34 musicians from around the globe.
Here’s my 3o min contribution as dRachEmUsiK built around the Walt Whitman poem “All Is Truth”.

I’ll be heading to Atlanta in the morning to spend ten days collaborating with Kevin Haller, Klimchak and Duet for Theremin and Lapsteel (Scott Burland and Frank Schultz).
Should be a great time of music making and hanging out. There’s even a rumor “Music from last Thursday” will be broadcast from Atlanta on Nov. 15th.

David Peck
http://davidpeck.bandcamp.com
David Peck is a 22 year-old digital composer, electronic musician, sound sculptor, and bringer of vibes from Indianapolis, Indiana. As a purveyor of organic-electronic music, Peck’s compositions often blend electronically generated tones and effect processes with found-sound recordings of organic material and acoustic instrumentation. Never letting his sound stay static, David finds himself shape-shifting between sound sculpting mad scientist, dance music enthusiast, ambient meditator, and hip-hop producer. No matter which form he chooses to presents himself, there is always an invariable focus on texture, sonic richness, and emotional impact.

Earthgirl
http://www.myspace.com/earthgirlvibes
Earthgirl is an electronic music project by Jeannie Allen, based in Indianapolis. Analog synthesizers, drum machines, field recordings and vocal samples create a mix of floating ambient and danceable beats. Inspired by musicians who use organic and synthesized sounds to evoke thoughts and emotions, this project seeks to explore many genres of electronic music.

Shannon Lee Hayden
http://shannonleehayden.com
Shannon Hayden is a classically trained cellist who has never been content to stay strictly within the confines of the traditional course of study. Having achieved early success in competitions both at home and abroad she quickly began to experiment with other forms of music as well as other instruments. Working with renowned cellists such as Janos Starker and Aldo Parisot, with whom she began a graduate level course of study at the age of 18 at the Yale School of Music, did not keep her from playing lead guitar in rock and experimental bands or writing music for amplified cello. She feels that musicians who want to consider themselves artists should go beyond mere craftsmanship and constantly look to expand the repertoire of their instrument, fulfilling the needs of the era within which they actively participate. When not performing her own pieces, Shannon focuses on 20th century and contemporary works and has enjoyed working with composers Ezra Laderman, David Lang, percussionist/composer Andy Akiho, Fay Wang and tours occasionally with Eric Genuis. Having completed her studies she is currently supporting her first album with shows around the United States and hopes to meet other artists with similar interests whose focus is continuing to stretch the boundaries of virtuosic classical music by composing for and embracing technologies which she feels are underutilized. Shannon also shares her parent’s passion for sustainable living and alternative energy and spends as much time as she can at the family’s off the grid organic vegetable farm. Indianapolis Electronic Music Group www.iemg.infoIEMG is an organization made up of experimental electroacoustic and electronic musicians committed to building community and supporting each other through meetings, performances, improvisation sessions, collaborations and workshops. IEMG is the local chapter of the international electro-music.com community.
